5.1  Dormitory


・Tokai University Isehara Dormitory (Kamikasuya)

Address: 246 Kamikasuya, Isehara, Kanagawa 259-1141, Japan

Approximately 20 minutes' walk from the University.


・Rooms and Fees

  • All rooms are single occupancy
  • Smoking is prohibited
  • A monthly dormitory fee applies. Please contact the International Affairs Office for the current rate.
  • Important: The dormitory has high occupancy from January to March; we recommend that visiting students avoid this period when possible.


・Furnishings provided

  • Bed
  • Desk
  • TV
  • Washing machine
  • Refrigerator
  • Microwave
  • Basic cooking equipment


・Bring your own

  • Towels, washcloths
  • Personal toiletries (toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Personal medications (with English prescription information if needed)
  • Adapters for Japanese 100 V / Type A plug outlets if your devices require them



5.2  Dress Code and Hospital Rules

Clinical units require professional appearance and conduct at all times.

・Attire

  • White medical coat (please bring your own; ID badge will be provided)
  • Professional shirt and tie for male students; modest professional attire (shirt or blouse) for female students
  • Closed professional shoes — boots, slippers, sandals, jeans, and T-shirts are not permitted on clinical units
  • Hairstyles and makeup should be neat and professional


・Identification

  • Student ID badge must be worn visibly at all times within the hospital and school buildings


・Hospital regulations

  • Face masks must be worn at all times during clinical practice and in school buildings
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout hospital grounds
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in clinical training areas
  • Patient confidentiality must be observed at all times — no photography, no social media posts about patients



5.3  Daily Life

・Currency and payment

  • Currency: Japanese Yen (¥). Approximate rate: 1 USD ≈ 150 JPY (early 2026)
  • Most large stores and restaurants accept credit cards; smaller shops and clinics may be cash-only
  • ATMs at 7-Eleven, Japan Post Bank, and major banks accept most foreign cards・Mobile phone / Internet
  • SIM cards are available at Haneda and Narita airport arrival lobbies
  • Pocket Wi-Fi rental is also widely available at airports and online
  • Tokai University campus and dormitory Wi-Fi credentials will be provided at orientation


・Transportation

  • IC card (Suica or PASMO) is highly recommended for trains and buses across Japan
  • Local buses from Isehara Station to the hospital: Kanachu Bus
  • Bicycles available for short-term rental near the train stations


・Food and dining

  • Campus cafeteria, Starbucks, and convenience stores on campus
  • Convenience stores within walking distance of dormitory
  • Restaurants and supermarkets clustered near Isehara Station
